BRACE yourself; because your inner child is about to leap out.
From now till Christmas Day, Allen’s lollies are celebrating their 125th birthday by serving up personalised lolly jars and limited edition lolly bags inside a pop up bar at Westfield Sydney.
Since 9am today, hundreds have rushed in and queued up to get their hands on forgotten classics such as spearmint leaves and green frogs.
Martin Brown, Nestle’s General Manager, was astounded to see the amount of attention the pop up bar received from candy-crazy Sydney siders.
“We wanted to celebrate this milestone, so we thought we’d make the ultimate Allen’s corner store and let people come in and buy their old favourites and mix up their own lollies,” he said.
Brown said that if all goes well with the Allen’s pop up store in Sydney, we may continue to see the lolly stalls pop up all across Australia, starting with a stall in Melbourne.
“We’d love to make it permanent and it’s been open for three hours and from what we can see from the response it’s looking very promising,” he said. “This is a test and if it works well, we certainly know that there are a lot of Allen lovers in Melbourne,” he said.
